Animated Ghost Fence Tutorial

This tutorial was done using PSP 7 & Animation Shop

This is a simple tag to make and I hope you have fun with it.
I have included the font I used in the supplies zip.

Supplies are here:

Open a new image in PSP: 350 x 250 - transparent.
Name this layer bottom, flood fill with white,
duplicate this layer 3 times and
close off these 3 duplicated layers.

Open the tube from the supplies zip, ghost on fence tube,
copy paste this tube into your new image,
duplicate this image 3 times and close off the the image, as well as copies #2 and 3.

Layer palette should look like this now:

Using your freehand tool - point to point - feather 0, on copy of image 1,
outline the 2nd and 3rd ghost head,
around the head and along the top of the fence.
Right click your mouse to get the marching ants around your image, then delete.

Go to selections, select none and then close off this copy of image.

Please remember to save often, as a psp image.

Next, on copy of image 2 layer, repeat the previous step, deleting ghost head 1 and 3
but this time COPY and SAVE (before deleting) ghost 1 and 3 from this layer

This can be done easily by holding your shift key down,
before you start the outline of the first ghost.
Then outline #1 ghost head, continue to hold down shift key, then outline #3 ghost.

While you have the marching ants around your ghost heads,
go to Edit / Copy and then Edit / Paste as new image...
or do a CTRL C and click your screen to paste as new image.
Save this as a psp image named ghost.

Go back to your image with the marching ants and delete the selection.
Then go to Selections / Select none.
Close this layer off and Save.

Next go to copy of image 3.
Repeat the previous step but this time we are removing ghost #1 and #2...
Do not save these ghost heads. They will not be needed.

Don't forget to save often :)

Next go back to the ghost heads #1 and 3 that you cut off and saved.
Copy #1 ghost from this image and save as psp image name it ghost 1.
Save the other as a psp image also, name it ghost 3.

Working with ghost #3 first, copy and paste as new layer, into your ghost fence psp image.
Rotate ghost #3, RIGHT: 90.
Move it into position on the right side of the fence.
Add a drop shadow: 2/2 50/3, color: Black #000000

Next, working with ghost #1, copy and paste as new layer, into your ghost fence psp image.
Rotate ghost #1, LEFT: 90.
Move it into position on the left side of the fence.
Add a drop shadow: 2/2 50/3, color: Black #000000

Arrange your layer palette to look like this:

Next, close off all layers except:
copy of image 3
ghost 1
bottom
Merge visible and rename as merged 1 and close off.

Next, close off all layers except:
copy of image 1
ghost 3, right side
1 copy of bottom
Merge visible and rename as merged 2 and close off.

Next, close off all layers except:
copy of image 2
1 copy of bottom
Merge visible and rename as merged 3 and close off.

Next, close off all layers except:
image
copy of bottom
Merge visible and rename as merged 4.

Open all layers and save as PSP.

Should have only 4 merged layers like this:

Text is next... use what you like best:)
I used the font: Creeper, which is inclosed in the ZIP
Stroke: Black #000000
Fill: Orange #E3824B
Size: 24 on BOO! text
Size: 16 on Happy Halloween! text
The drop I used is: 2/2 75/4
Color: Black #000000 .

Open your font and minimize it, if it is not already installed in Windows.
Choose your colors or use my settings.
For Boo! text... I used size 22, Vector - Antilias
Drop shadow: 2/2 75/4
and duplicate it 2 times.

For Happy Halloween! text...
Same settings and drop shadow, size 16 and with one difference.
Before converting this text to raster layer and adding the drop shadow,
I used the very middle node to pull the text straight up to make it taller.
Personal preference, work with it as you choose to.
When happy with it, convert to raster layer and add drop shadow.

Arrange layers on the layer palette to look like this:

Position your BOO! text layer on your merged layers to look like this,
starting from the bottom layers up:

Boo Text on merged 1 layer:

Copy of Boo Text on merged 2 layer:

Copy of Boo Text on merged 3 layer:

Then center Happy Halloween! on your merged 4 layer.

Close off all layers on your palette but the bottom two:
Boo text and merged 1.
Merge visible.
Rename #1.
Close off.

Open merged 2 and next copy of boo text.
Merge visible.
Rename #2.
Close off.

Open merged 3 and last copy of boo text.
Merge visible.
Rename #3.
Close off.

Open merged 4 and Happy Halloween text.
Merge visible.
Rename #4.

You should once again only have 4 layers.
Open all layers and save as psp image.

Now to animate it :)

Launch Animation Shop.

Click on Open Animation.

Find your saved PSP image, click on open.
You should now have the four frames of your image in AS screen.

We want to change the frame properties of each frame,
by RIGHT clicking on each individual frame and choosing the following settings:

Frame 1 = 25
Frame 2 = 50
Frame 3 = 75
Frame 1 = 125

Go to Animation / Resize Animation
Resize to 75% - bicubic resample
Click OK.

Click on View Animation

If you are happy with it....

Go to File / Save As and save...

Whalla... you are done:)

As with any siggy tag, this one has many possibilites, so have fun with it :)
